Maintaining Sterling Silver Jewellery
All of our silver is 925 Australian sterling silver, which is used for its strength and beauty. Able to last a life-time, this metal is 92.5% pure silver. 7.5% of sterling silver pieces are usually mixed with copper, added in for its strength and durability.
Silver may tarnish over time, leaving your jewellery looking dull and coppery, which is caused by exposure to gasses in the air, causing discolouration, darkening and a layer of tarnish.
Luckily tarnish can be easily removed by gently rubbing your piece with a store purchased jewellery cloth. You may also buy silver jewellery cleaning solution or make your own at home by mixing warm water (250 mls), a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and scrubbing it with a soft head toothbrush. After cleaning, rinse off with clean water and pat dry with a towel.
*NB if your silver jewellery contains pearls or enamel please do not place in any liquid solutions, instead always use the jewellery cloth, as it will strip these materials of colour and sheen.

Maintaining Gold Plated Jewellery
All of our gold plated jewellery is exactly that - jewellery that is coated with a layer of gold around a sterling silver base (so don’t worry, your skin won’t turn green) to create the look of a gold piece without the price tag.
Gold-plated jewellery can tarnish when its coating begins to fade, which can be frustrating, although following a few basic measures will ensure the plating lasts longer, prolonging the life of your piece:
- Don't swim or shower with your gold plated jewellery (and remove any plated ring when washing your hands - just don't forget to put them back on).
- Don't spray perfume or apply creams directly onto it
- Don't sleep with your jewellery on
- Store your piece in a dark jewellery box, preferably wrapped in a cloth or in a zip lock bag
- Only clean with a jewellery wipe/cloth - never place it in any liquid solution.

Maintaining Gold Jewellery
Gold jewellery will last forever if it is taken care of properly. Gold and precious/semi precious stones may be cleaned by mixing hot water (250ml) with a teaspoon of dish soap and gently scrubbing it with a soft bristle toothbrush. You may also purchase a gold cleaning solution which you may dip your pieces in.
*NB if your silver jewellery contains pearls or enamel please do not place in any liquid solutions, instead always use the jewellery cloth, as it will strip these materials of colour and sheen.
Remember each piece is delicate so please be careful with any hinges/clasps when putting on and taking off as well as cleaning.
